"Umaru is a new contemporary-styled urban city on the Dogcraft Server." 20.png William278, in the project's Discord

Umaru (ooh-mar-ooh) was a modern town on the Husky Survival 4 world of the Dogcraft Server, founded by 20.png William278 during a Stream Day organised by the Events Committee on the 26th of July, 2020. The town was founded after William278 left the Gaia project as a councel member following a period of inactivity on the server, induced by burnout after working on successive city projects Lackria, Akkara and Ouranos over a number of years on the server.

The build itself featured modern road designs, with a complete central park built providing access to the Nether Transport Network through a portal and approved tunnel branch, accessible from the centre of the park. Visitors could also find an incomplete city hall build, which provided builder's storage for the town. As of November 2020, the project was inactive due to lack of time to maintain by its' mayor. A mostly complete embassy of the city of Gaia lay on one corner of the city block.

Approach & Style

Umaru had a unique approach to its' construction. Unlike previous cities led by William278, construction of the town has been primarily completed on live streams from the server. The "let's build together" approach drew interest from a number of players who enjoyed the interactivity of live streams.

The town was decorated with orange branding, with a white-on-orange flower/brick banner pattern as well as accents built into the city hall facade and atrium. The name "Umaru" was joked by its' mayor to originate from a simplified version of "You are moo" backwards (U ar mu), but in fact the name (and orange style) was inspired by the eponymous manga character.
