Petal Ranch Station was the eighth and final station on the Beagle South Line on Survival 4. Its completion made the Beagle South Line the only main line in the networks history to reach eight stations in length, and is to date the most remote station ever connected to the main network. The station was designed and built by N1cM4tth3w63 and opened to the public on the 6th of February 2022 in a joint opening alongside Rivermill Station and Meridian Station.
About the Station
The area for Petal Ranch Station was initially picked out by Montenator in November 2021. Survival 4 was already well over 18 months old and it was assumed that the world would end soon. As a result, Montenator only intended to built the seventh station for the Beagle South Line, Rivermill before the reset. However, N1cM4tth3w63 suggested that both stations could be built simultaneously and have a dual opening before the reset happened to which Montenator agreed, letting N1cM4tth3w63 take full control over the build of South 8.
The station was the largest station by surface area, with large sprawling fields of crops and flower surrounding the station building. Petal Ranch was built with the intention of it being the final station on the line, so the idea was that a larger than normal station would be built, with lots of decorative pathways and buildings to give players a proper destination to reach at the end of the line. The main station building took the form of an old hay barn, it only included one main line terminal, that emphasized the idea that this was the last stop on the line. There was room for one branch line connection which was never used due to the stations remote location as well as the short time between its completion and the server reset. Nearby was a small windmill which had a nether portal inside for NTN access. To your left when exiting the main station building was a wool building. It had outdoor stables for leaving your horses as well as bed in the upper floor of the loft.
Next to this building were two large grain silos with a lily pad bridge leading over the lake to a farmhouse which was decorated inside. Parked to its left was a small RV surrounded by custom made trees. The line entering the Petal Ranch area was also decorated for the final minute of its duration. Firstly, you pass a large rustic sign letting you know you are entering the area. The line then winds through a small stable, rose field, and passing over a river between a small bridge and an apiary before winding around a large lake to reach the station building.
Petal Ranch Head Hunt
To encourage players to explore the station area, N1cM4tth3w63 and Montenator set up a timed head hunt around the area. Players were tasked to find apple heads scattered about the station. There were 20 in total. Whichever player managed to find the most in 15 minutes won a cash prize of 10k dcd. In addition to the 20 apple heads, two golden apple heads were placed around the area, one by Montenator and one by N1cM4tth3w63. These were meant to be very hard to find and players were awarded 5k dcd if they found one. A handful of people found Montenator's golden apple but only TreeManForever was able to find N1cM4tth3w63's. In the end PerskyPuff won, finding 16 heads alongside one golden apple head.
