Emerald City is the base of Princess223 on the Survival 4 world of the Dogcraft Server.
About
The Emerald City is the main base of Princess223 on the Survival 4 world of the Dogcraft server. The base is located on the Beagle world and was set up on a distant mushroom island that would be terraformed to be covered in grass and poppies. This was made to resemble the field of sleeping poppies which surrounded the yellow brick road approaching the city in the movie âThe Wizard of Ozâ.
History
The island was chosen by Princess223 while she was out exploring near the beginning of Survival 4. It reminded her of the location of the Emerald City in the movie âThe Wizard of Ozâ and she decided that it would be the area where she would set up her main base throughout Survival 4. Lots of players would help Princess in transforming the island covered in mycelium, to one covered in lush grass filled with poppies.
The large central point of the base is the Emerald City itself with lots of big cylindrical towers stretching upwards from the grassy field below. EtaThetaZeta and TekBot0507 helped Princess a lot with these towers. These towers are made from a variety of different green colored blocks, with some being built out of emerald blocks, while others were built out of green glass and even dried kelp blocks.
The largest tower in the base was built by Princess223, herself, solely out of emerald blocks, and is home to her staff head collection. There are many floors to this tower, each interlinked with a staircase curving its way up to the top, where an elytra take off point can be found to save players the bother of traveling all the way back down. Every floor contains a head display for about 5 or 6 staff members, each complete with their own personal staff skinned rug. These rugs are made by placing down a staff head and creating a rug shape with carpets corresponding to the color of that player's skin. This idea was initially started with Cookies58_, when Princess built a bear skinned rug at base complete with his head, this would later start the trend of the staff skinned rugs!
The towers surround a central courtyard within the city which provides easy access to lots of the bordering towers. A decorated cliff face complete with a waterfall can be found at one side of this courtyard which was created by EtaThetaZeta and Ragecage295. They would also help Princess in creating a secret piston door which involved pressing a button, waiting for the waterfall to turn off, only for a door to open in the now revealed cliff face underneath the water. Lendog1888 and ashapink would build a secret cave behind this piston door. In this cave you can find player Tekbot0507, being tormented by the server headmods and admins, with Princess223 watching on from her throne.
At the far end of the island, a large birthday cake can be found. This was built by __Stormaggedon__ and ChargedBluey for Princessâ birthday in February 2021, and was filled with various gifts including heads, armour stands and dancing parrots. The following year, when Princess was away on a vacation, Minda905 would build a noteblock cover of âSomewhere Over The Rainbowâ at the base, which could be triggered by walking over one of the gold pressure plates along the yellow brick road. This was a gift for Princessâ birthday in 2022 and surprised her when she came back from vacation.
Near the front entrance of the Emerald City, a lone cornflower can be found within the sea of poppies, this pays tribute to when server admin Ironboundred decided to change all the poppies on the island to cornflowers. There are many of these small references and mementos scattered all over the island, commemorating past shenanigans that took place there. __Stormaggedon__ is particularly notorious for building lots of hidden rooms and small builds in and around the city.
The Emerald City itself is mainly the aesthetic draw point of the area, while Princessâ functional base is located opposite within the side of a mountain which then sprawls into a whole network of underground tunnels and passages containing lots of bulk storage rooms as well as many useful auto-farms. However, some of the towers do also serve practical purposes. Dutchsoccer would install a villager breeder in the lime concrete tower and a concrete maker in the prismarine tower. Dutch would also be responsible for building a creeper farm at the base, providing plenty of gunpowder for Princess.
The Emerald City was a project which brought together lots of players who were all able to add their own unique touches to the base. Alongside those mentioned above, many other players also helped with decorating the area. Scooberson helped Princess in coming up with a wall design for her storage room, while Simply_Simon_ was a big help in covering the island in grass as well as donating a lot of resources to help with the construction of the base, including gold blocks for the yellow brick road. Other players helped decorate the Emerald City towers including TrainerMoon and M_Sky3.
The project concluded at the end of Survival 4. Several towers and other parts of the base remained unfinished by the time the server reset. Nevertheless, Princess was very happy with how the base turned out and was particularly pleased at how much the wider community engaged with the project.
