White Thorns Station was the fourth station on the Shepherd South Line on Survival 5. The station was designed and built by 20.png Elasmotherium1 and was opened to the public on the 18th of August 2023, in a joint opening with the third and fifth stations on the Shepherd South Line, Cape Turtle Station and Pinewood Station respectively.

About The Station

The station location was picked out by 20.png Montenator, after Elasmotherium1 expressed interest in building an SRN station. The station was situated in a mega taiga biome on the end of a large peninsula, overlooking another large ocean. It was unique from many other stations as verticality played a big role in the design of the station, as it had a small surface area with a height of over 80 blocks. The main building was sat upon a rocky formation, with a gradient made from blocks such as diorite, wool, calcite, clay and concrete powder. A large spire rose above the rest of the building with a large array of lamps near its top. This spire, accompanied by the slightly smaller spire in the main building and the one in the adjacent bell tower gave the station its name, with the spikey spires being similar to 'thorns'. Stripped spruce wood provided the framework for the build with the turrets and roofs being made with a combination of deepslate and blackstone.

Two large viaducts connected the rail line to the main building, while the other acted as a footpath between the bell tower and main building. The rail line heading to Pinewood Station featured a seldom-used drop to leave the station, and a spiraling track tower to get back up, in a similar fashion to the system used in Tower Station which was built by 20.png Mrs_Diss. The surrounding area was decorated with many custom pine trees, with meandering dirt path that connected the various buildings in the area. Down by the waters edge, Sleepy Thorns Port can be found. This connected the whole station up with the CSC, allowing for an interchange between both transport networks. The port itself was hung across the sea facing cliff, with basic utilities like beds and maps found inside.

In the lower floor of the main building, a large 2 floored atrium housed beds and the stations NTN portal. A custom fountain using tipped arrows to give a bubble effect was also found in this room. Bubble-vators allowed players to travel upwards to the top floor, where both main line connections can be found, as well as network maps and basic utilities. Taking the stairway down a floor brought the player to a large Monty Coffee branch, with the whole floor decorated in tables and chairs and serving various warm beverages.

Stick Sacrifice

The final building in the area was a large calcite/diorite pedestal, where pixel art of two intertwined sticks was built above it. This was the venue of Elasmotherium1's Stick Sacrifice game. The premise of the game was that those wanting to sign up pick one of the chests and edit the sign to have their name on it. Whenever the player makes a chat fail in game, for example, forgetting a / before a command, accidentally sending a private message in global chat, or forgetting to turn off caps lock to name a few, the player must come over to the Stick Sacrifice area and place a stick in their chest. Whoever had the least sticks in their chest by the end of Survival 5 was declared the winner. The area can be accessed using /phome Stick Sacrifice.
