West Station, the traditional name for the first SRN station West of Spawn, was the first connection on the Survival 5 - Shepherd West-Line and the first station to open on the Shepherd world.

Design & Location

West Station was located pretty close to spawn compared to traditional distances between stations. It was a little bit over 1000 blocks from spawn, making it a short journey to the station. The station sat on a landscaped platform in front of a small mountain. The station was inspired by a real life station, the train station of Aalst - East Flanders, Belgium. The main block pallet for the station consisted of Granite, Andesite, Stone and Bricks, with Dark Oak for roofing and flooring. The station platform sat separately on a higher level from the actual station building to create more depth to the build.

The station had everything a traveler was looking for. On the platform you found some benches to have some rest, but inside the station building it had a room full of beds on the first floor for those who need some sleep. A ladder took you up to the tower, from where people jumped off to spread their wings. Down below on the ground level was a map, enderchest, crafting bench, anvil and stone cutter for people to use. A portal to the NTN was also provided at the center of the building.

With the station being so close to spawn, it was decided not to provide branch lines. To offer people a way to make an easy connection to the station, a large RHN stable and rest stop were integrated into the design. Thanks to 20.png TyrantrumGOD, a first network of the RHN was already created West-bound of the station.

History

The Station build was started within a month of the server launching. 20.png Skelleton123 however underestimated the amount of work it would take to finish the station and had to re-evaluate the amount of time it would take to finish. In the end it took about 6 weeks to gather all the blocks and build up the station and it's surroundings. On May 12th a building session was organised to finish off the track towards spawn. 5 Hours were provided to put in the track, it took the present helpers only 51 minutes to actually complete the work. Another bad calculation on Skelleton's side. Big thanks to 20.png Chickzie, 20.png Mika_Panda, 20.png Wanderer_06, 20.png Eybwam3 and 20.png Montenator for their help on finishing the track so fast!
