The Great Orange is the base of player dmgdog on the Survival 3 world on the Dogcraft Server. The center piece of The Great Orange is a hole, dug down to bedrock with a decorated floor design, in the shape of an orange; thus giving it the base's name. Founded in July 2019, the once desolate swamp lands have since been built-up greatly.
History of dmgdog
dmgdog (Informally known as dmg) is a long-serving player on the Dogcraft Server, joining 6th September 2016 during Survival 1. 'dmg was previously a citizen of Lackria, a successful city run by player William278 where dmg built his first redstone shop.
dmg also briefly played on Survival 2 after darparniox introduced him to the City of Havana. here dmg built a small house in the area which would later be turned into the Havana Slums. Soon after, dmg announced that he was leaving the server, and Minecraft as a whole in November 2017. A ceremony led by marbou9 took place. Diamonds and elytras were burned, and gave his land ownership to the City of Havana. dmg would occasionally visit the server for a short time, but never found the inspiration he had before.
Survival 3
In June 2019, Minecraft had a sudden rise in popularity. 29th June 2019, ReNDoG uploaded the Tour of the SRN. The server saw over 600 new players join that day, and welcomed back dmg after a 1.5 year absence.
He set up his starter base near Balaton Station and plans to transform the surrounding area with custom rivers and ponds. dmg soon grew out of the area, as he wanted more space to expand.
The Dig
dmg found an area on the Grand Map that he wanted to start his base, located in the West, dmg started a long trek to find his desired area. Without using coordinates, it was difficult to locate, but with the help of player Cookies58_ it was eventually found.
Work started as dmg flattened a large area. Without access to a beacon, this took longer than expected. This was followed by a 3 week-long dig of a 99 diameter circle down to bedrock with some help from various players including player StenLluk.
