Survival Railway Network (Survival 1)
Project
TypeProject

This is about the network on Survival 1. For the wider organization, click here.

The Survival Railway Network on the Survival 1 world was a large-scale transport network that provided access to locations across the world through railways. It aimed to not only get players to places, but to also give players a scenic journey that displays the best of surrounding terrain wherever possible. The network was centered at Spawn Station, located underneath the Golden Grannydog monument at Spawn. It extended in the four cardinal directions (north, south, east and west), connecting stations along each direction of line.[1]

Founding of the SRN

The original SRN concept was thought of by _edo, in early 2016. A location for a central station was needed. At the same time, Mr_Dawgie and others were constructing a homage to Rendog in the form of a 2:1 scale replica of the Grannydog monument. The two joined forces.

The initial task of the SRN was to secure to pass through the myriad of claims in Spawn City. Doubt has high as to whether this could be achieved. However, both player's reputation as prominent builders in spawn assisted in the effort which was completed in late April 2016. Other players were gathered and construction of the very first SRN railways begun.

Network

The SRN Network on Survival 1 stretched far out into the world. The four cardinal directions each had multiple stations with some secondary lines connecting to them. Notable main stations where Stream Town, North Station (The End portal is located here), Spawn Station and Pyramid Station.

East Line is the longest line in the network, spanning 4941 blocks from Spawn to Swamp Stations. It is followed by North (4780), then West (2752) and South (2069). The longest individual line is from Pyramid to Swamp Station along the East Line. This line alone spans further than the entire South Line, at 2150 blocks. The shortest route is from Spawn to North Station (710).

Structure

The network expands from the four cardinal directions in Spawn City station, each having multiple stations along the line. This allows the rails to be expanded as required to connect as many destinations as possible.

Two main lines did not follow the cardinal structure. These are the Stream Station and Lackria Station lines.

Secondary lines could connect up to rail lines at any point using a redstone junction, although it was preferred for them to connect to the main stations along the network.
