Birch Copse Farm was the base of 20.png Madster_Rabbitt on the Survival 5 world of the Dogcraft Server.

About

Birch Copse Farm lay on a small island between Akita spawn and MOTTO station.

It was designed around the concept of ethical automation. All the farms in the base were designed to allow peaceful mobs as much free range as possible whilst maintaining production rates. Where possible crops were grown in farms designed to be incorporated into their surroundings. Water streams throughout the island took crops to an underground storage beneath the barn. An addition to the end of the sorting system converted excess compostable items into bonemeal.

Tying into this theme the build style tried to meld traditional with industrial. It incorporated a lot of acacia wood from the nearby Savannah. One of the key pieces of architecture on the island was the villager district, containing one of each villager type (including a nitwit). The hot air balloon hovering over the island contained a mob farm.

The end goal of the base was to set up a farm shop in the mall, with an accompanying map art logo created for it. This was achieved briefly before the end of Survival 5. The pumpkin theme of the shop and its pumpkin pie centrepiece was based on the pumpkin patch found on the island.

History

Birch Copse Farm was established at the very start of Survival 5. At the time no infrastructure existed so the island was reached purely via swimming. Later 20.png Madster_Rabbitt went back to the west coast of the spawn island to set up a free chest of boats for future cyberdogs. This was removed once the Western rail line was established. They also regularly restocked the nearby explorers cabin which had previously saved their life, adding a bed and turtle sanctuary.

The first build to be created on the farm was the tree house perched between two custom birch trees. This was based on the real life steampunk treehouse in Redmond, Washington. Sadly the leaves were never added and the trees remained bare for the rest of Survival 5.

The first farm created was the automatic sheep farm. Unfortunately, due to the island being a forest biome, the first flock was wiped out by a wolf. Since then no blocks were placed next to the fence and the second flock survived to the end of Survival 5.
