Rome is the base of 20.png Wanderer_06 on the Survival 5 (Shepherd) world of the Dogcraft Server.

Overview

The idea is that Rome is a to-scale near replica of the city surrounding the Colosseum in Rome, Italy.

The base began its planning a few months before the start of Survival 5 in a world-edit creative world, in hopes of having a clear view going forward.

At the start of Survival 5, 20.png Chriizsich, 20.png Karbloem, and 20.png Wanderer_06 (later joined by 20.png Bigeater and 20.png ChargedBluey) found a village West on Shepherd, and quickly set up starter farms and villager trading within. Being lazy, and with the end not having opened yet, Wanderer_06 decided to start Rome just next to the starter village, with the plan of slowly incorporating all of the starter farms into more permanent buildings within the city.

The end goal for Rome is to have a beautiful (and accurate) in-game version of the Colosseum and nearby Rome, with the Colosseum being a hub for server minigames and gatherings.

The Process (So far)

Construction of Rome began around 3/27/2022, just a week or so after the start of Survival 5, giving time for gearing up and some resource collection.

All of the buildings in Rome follow a similar process: whenever time allows, I (Wanderer_06 ) go into my creative world and build more buildings closely resembling the Google Earth versions in Rome, Italy. When the resources have been counted and collected, I build them in DogCraft Survival with the Single Player pulled up on a second monitor.

● The first building in Rome was a large-scale wool farm to supply future streets with light gray wool sidewalks.

● Quickly following the wool farm was an official storage room, into which all of the starter area resources were moved.

● All the while, Wanderer_06 was (and still is) digging out mountains and hills to clear land (and gather resources) for the Colosseum, the centerpiece of Rome.

● 5/2/2022 the outer shell of the HQ for Wanderer_06's DogCraft Pet Store was built in Rome.

● 5/23/2022 "The Road to Rome" was completed by connecting the "Biome Galore" Road far enough West to reach Rome.

● 6/1/2022 A plane flying a partnership banner with Tom's Tatties was planned and is to be constructed in the near future.

The Colosseum

A HUGE part of Rome is (going to be) the to-scale interpretation of the great Colosseum. While the stands take up a large majority of the ovular structure, the center of the Colosseum will be a large PVP/PVE arena for all scenarios. Under the arena will be a maze-like structure similar to that of ancient times, housing large array of gear, gladiator pandas, and numerous other enemies to face in the arena.

The Arena

The arena is the center and also open to air bit of the colosseum and has had a few brainstorming sessions along the way.

Some notable ideas so far include:

● A maze underneath a sand-covered arena that has ravagers inside, forcing players to navigate across and fight each other while ravagers hunt them down and spectators can watch from above.

● Mob cages along the sides like "How to train your Dragon" releasing challenges for the players to avoid and outlast each other with.

● A floodable arena for boat/trident battles

● The whole arena as a giant spleef arena, going down to bedrock.

● Chariot races (on pigs of course)

Within the walls

Under the seating around the arena, there will be plenty of space. And if that's not enough, there's always down. The plan is to have clear signage quite often, leading players around the ring to various areas including all their favorite *cough* rentable shop stalls *cough* and minigames, as well as a multitude of entrances to the main arena and seating/viewing areas.

DCPS - The DogCraft Pet Store

"DCPS provides quality animals to all servers in the best way possible."

Yes, this relates to Rome

Rome, being a privately owned and operated city, needs funding, but also some diversion from the constant grind of construction and development. The DogCraft Pet Store gives me (Wanderer_06 ) a fun break from building and grinding by introducing the adventuring, capturing, breeding, and transporting aspects of animals into my regular gameplay, as well as helping me get to know more of the amazing DogCraft community and what they're working on! Just think, how often do you breed pandas by the dozens? How often do you give yourself the challenge of capturing all 35 types of horses? Screaming goats? The fastest donkey? The 9-slot llama?

DCPS also has the privilege of sponsoring the Colosseum with all its necessary mobs for fights, challenges, and even decoration!

Do you need a new pet or an outrageous amount of pigs? Contact 20.png Wanderer_06 today!
