Shakoburg is the base of _Shako on the Survival 5 Labrador world of the Dogcraft Server. It is located one kilometer due east of the Spawn, along Pioneer Valley Road of the Road and Horse Network and Labrador East Station of the Community Rail Network.

About

Shakoburg is a megastructure composed of multiple sub-structures connected directly into each other. While some of the buildings appear to be separate above-ground, they are in fact connected by underground passageways.

The designs of the buildings are generally based on university campus buildings in North America, where multiple layers of Neoclassical, Gothic-revival, and Modern design exist closely together, often merging abruptly.

The centerpiece of the base is the Industrial Tower, a replica of Bradfield Hall, a plant biology laboratory at Cornell University, by architect Ulrich Franzen. The automatic farms and super-smelter are all located inside the tower, with water streams carrying items to the Storage Hall. The Storage Hall is very loosely based on Barton Hall, an indoor athletic field and military training building also at Cornell University, by architect Lewis Pilcher.

The name "Shakoburg" was considered for Vitruvius in Survival 4, but _Shako felt it was too personal for what was intended to be a community build.

History

Shakoburg was originally intended to be built on Akita, and an outline for the Industrial Tower still exists at a small base owned by _Shako just under two kilometers north of Spawn on Akita. The project was moved to Labrador when the decision was made to build the Road and Horse Network on Labrador instead of Akita. The exterior of the Industrial Tower was the first completed phase, mostly in April 2022. The Storage Hall, the Visitor Center, and the East Atrium were started next and built slowly through Summer and early Autumn 2022.
