Foresthill Farm is the starterbase of 20.png Minda905 on the Survival 5 world Corgi of the Dogcraft Server. It's set on top of a hill in a small forest biome north-east of spawn and was founded in March 2022.

About

Surrounded by trees on top of a hill lies Foresthill Farm, starterbase of Minda905. With inspiration crossing from real life historic farming sites, the Corgi druid-themed spawn and elements of Minda's own imagination, Foresthill Farm turned out a picturesque, realistic/organic style starterbase with some fantasy elements sprinkled in. The block pallette ranges from greys and greens to spruce and decorational greenery.

History

After some initial exploring and material gathering with friends during the first days of the servers, Minda set off on her own to find a place to settle. Eventually she found herself on a forest hill, where she started clearing out trees to make space for her pre-planned starter tent-house.

The starter house was first built out of dirt and was later given a "face-lift" to reach it's intended look with mossy cobble, moss and greenery sprinkled all over. More forest clearing was done to make space for an animal pen and some crop fields surrounded by cobblestone walls and leaves, serving the base with both functionality and decoration.

One night in the early stages, two zombie villagers emerged from the forest and were shortly captured. The opportunity prompted Minda to create a villager trading setup, which was developed over the course of about a week in parallel with setting up a couple of other resource farms. Three "huts" and a greenhouse were constructed as entrances to these farms and establishments which all were located under ground.

Minda's plan was to live at the starterbase for roughly a month before moving on to find a place for her permanent settlement Lilyrose Valley. The temporary setting brought about an endeavour to "go with the flow" rather than creatively pre-planning builds to the tiniest detail, a practice that she'd heavily resorted to during the end of Survival 4. Instead, she aimed to adapt to the landscape as well as embracing wonkyness and imperfections in her builds, leading to a more relaxed, "messy" and organic build style.

Points of Interest

The Tent

The Tenthouse was one of the few pre-planned structures to be built at Foresthill Farm. It's made up of two A-framed roof-sections crossed together and holds a compact interior of storagechests, shelves and two lofts for a bed, enchanting setup and other workstation blocks. Downstairs in the cellar were some extra storage, a larger manual brewing setup, several maps and also a small walkway that lead into the underground farm corridor and mines & caves below.

Farms & Utilities

Following the capture of the two zombie villagers, Minda created the villager huts with trading halls underneath. The setup was followed by the cropfields and then the third hut, which leads down into a corridor edged with windows into several smallscale farms for melon & pumpkins, sugarcane & bamboo, cactus, iron, moss and gunpowder. All of the farms were hooked up to an automatic storagesystem with bonemeal conversion for the overflow.

A separate bee-farm was also created underneath an improvised greenhouse next to the Tenthouse.

Later additions put into the farming corridor was a wall for growing cocoa beans, as well as a two-tall flower farm.

Notes/Trivia

A little surprise picnic area with a simple noteblock version of Happy Birthday, ending with a firework, was setup to celebrate friends' birthdays on the server. 20.png Nomiium had the hounour of inagurating it, followed by 20.png SummerFlower1234, with many more to come!
