This page serves as a list of tasks and trackers for wiki maintenance. For a similar editing and organising focused page, check out Project:Contributing.
Tracked pages
Each of these links points to a list of pages that needs some help. If you'd like to help out, this is a great place to get started!
Unlike all the other boxes on this page, the lists linked-to in this box are built-in to the wiki software. They can also be reached at Special:SpecialPages.
- Special:Wanted templates
- The redlinks that appear in this list usually do because someone made a typo in a template they were attempting to use, or in case of template pages, because something imported from another wiki (usually wikipedia) is referencing a template that we don't have on this wiki. The way to fix these is usually to edit the page where the template is referred to or occasionally to import a new template. Some templates are not imported on purpose, since this wiki doesn't utilize every single feature of the mediawiki software.
Imporant note: Fixing any main, Guide: or Help: namespace pages that appear in this list is a high priority. However, Template: namespace pages in the list are usually fine to be left. (These is a high number of these on the list) - Special:Wanted categories
- Unlike what the name suggests, these are the categories without a description on their category page. All categories should have a description, create one!
- Special:Unused categories
- This is the list of unused category pages. These should usually be archived, renamed or marked for deletion, or deleted (if you are an admin).
- Special:Uncategorised templates
- This is the list of templates without a category. Most templates should be categorised or if unused, marked for archival or deletion. See Project:Templates for more information on template categories and template organisation.
- Special:Uncategorised categories
- This is the list of categories without a parent category. Not all categories need a parent, but if a logical parent already exists, they can be sorted.
- Special:Protected pages
- These are all the pages that have some level of protection applied to them. They can either only be edited by Administrators, or by Site Content Editors. This list usually doesn't require maintenance, although for admins, it is worth it to check on it every once in a while, to see whether something still needs to be protected, or general editing can be restored to it.
- Special:Protected titles
- This is the list of protected titles. Pages by these titles can only be created by people who have access to the specified level of protection. These should be treated similarly to Protected pages and are used even more rarely.
- Special:UnusedFiles and Special:UnusedTemplates also exist.
- They are usually fine to be left alone.
