Claudy's Snow Globe is a base of ClaudyD4y on the Survival 4 world of the Dogcraft Server.

About

Nestled in the beautiful tranquil basalt delta, just past the last ntn End station to the South on Sur4 Beagle you will find Claudy’s Snow Globe. It was build during the two Christmas season of 2020 and 2021. It contains all things snowy and christmasy.

History

The Beginnings:

Started in November 2020, this project was supposed to be finished for Christmas the same year. But as usual irl made its appearance and the project had to be put on the back burner for most of 2021. The idea for using the basalt delta for a christmasy scene came to Claudy’s mind after the new 1.16 Nether Update, which introduced four new biomes to the game including new particle effect, which, in the case of the basalt delta, look a lot like snow flakes.

2020 Building Phase:

Finding a suitable location wasn’t too hard: a basalt delta with mostly lava lake, so not to much digging had to be done. Admittedly there could have been better locations as the current one still contained a rather huge chunk of basalt and blackstone, but extra resources are always welcome to a Minecraft hoarder and excess can be sold through the mall or dropped of at the stone exchange. After a suitable location was found in the region of 256/y/4053 the digging and flattening started. About 300.000 Basalt, 70.000 Blackstone and 10 Ancient debris were removed from the building site before the actual start of the building process and only a mere 25.936 Magma Cube lost their live to the cause, all in the name of a snowy wonderland.

The first phase of the building was the actual glass globe surrounding the whole project parameter. It is a 128 Block radius 70 blocks high half sphere made of four layers of glass, light blue stained and white stained alternating and an additional outside layer made of packed ice, which gives it a somewhat foggy look from the inside but hides the view on the dark and scary surroundings.

To make the place nicer to work, spawn proofing was done by putting down double layers of snow on the ground.

The first thing being build and centre piece of the project was a giant Christmas tree. The design is from a GeminiTay Tutorial video and was adjusted by adding a lot of details using fences, fence gates, slabs buttons and trapdoors and then got decorated with layers of snow and Christmas bauble mini blocks provided by the event cave shop at husky spawn. The area was divided into quarters to have four different scened areas to work with.

During this phase of the building a not at all suspicious bBrain stopped by and “donated” a killer bunny to the cause. The Bunny was trapped moved to its new forever home and the idea of an arctic zoo in one of the quarters was born. Three more enclosures where added and the process of breeding arctic foxes and snow bunnies was started. With the moving in of three polar bear the winter zoo collection was completed.

The next quarter to be worked on was the Presents and Santas sleight area. It included colourful oversized Christmas presents and a huge sleight with the nine Strideers in front pulling it. A little stable for the Strideers and a pathway were added.

After that the Christmas celebrations came around and the whole project was put on hold for quite some time.

2021 Building phase:

About ten month after the last blocks were placed and, recharged for another busy Christmas season, Claudy finally got back to finish off the Snow Globe.

Since another Minecraft update (1.17) had dropped since the last building phase, using amethyst blocks hidden under moss carpets, half slabs and snow seemed to be a wonderful way to add some extra wintery cling clang atmosphere to the whole area, so all the original pathways were replaced.

After a little research a medieval building style by SkyOWings was settled on and the winter village got started in one of the two remaining quadrants and some landscaping for extra depth took place. In the end six houses were build, followed interiors and pathway to bring everything together nicely.

Now there was only one quadrant left which already had an icy lake added to it during the previous year. The decision was made to have the village spill over to the last remaining quarter of the globe and another four houses were added. Once that was all done detailing took place and greenery, garlands, pathways, amour stands scenes, snowmen and trees were built.

But what would a winter village be without winter villagers? So another breeding program was started in a nearby over world tundra biome. Soon after villagers moved in and the whole are came alive.
