Cliff Garden is the base of [your name!] on the Survival 6 world of the Dogcraft Server.

About

Cliff Garden was the base of 20.png H_Di_Chemici on the corgi world of survival 5. It was located in the South-Eastern quadrant of the corgi world and built up over the course of 9 months. It features a classicism garden on top of an over 100 blocks tall cliff that seems to rise out of the ground from seamingly nowhere.

History

A good start

The Cliff Garden base was founded on the first day H_Di_Chemici played on the dogcraft server after having watched Rendog's server tours. The location was randomly decided, after exiting a random portal in the Southern tunnel of the nether hub (this was 20.png GracessNella's base in retrospect) and boating over the ocean East. After hitting land in the spruce forest Chemi was not happy and ventured further until he saw a flat plains biome with a river meandering around it creating an almost peninsula shape in the river.

In the begining was the base a compound that only stayed within the boundries of the claimborders being afraid that others could grief it. This fear quickly faded getting to know the players on the server and plans aletered. The idea arose of making a cliff with a castle on top, or maybe a village, a decisive idea wasn't set yet. But the cliffbuilding started quickly, Chemi who already had quite some experience with building mountains and cliffs from his previous major survival world experience.

Early Problems

Since the cliffbuilding started within the first week of playing personal resources were scare, a quick beacon mine was started within the peninsula mining out all the stone needed for the cliff by hand. Quickly the realisation was acquired that this was not going to be feasable in the long run. Having to go mining before placing the stone was not a fun activity and a question in the chat appeared, "Does someone have stone that i can buy from them?". This message was answered, multiple shulkers of stone were delivered free of charge and Chemi was also informed about the stone exchange.

The Grind

The grind started in early januari and februari of 2023. Placing the stone was quite a monotous sisyphean task. With no end in sight (mostly due to making it waaay to big) Chemi decided to venture into other projects while sporadically coming back to his base whenever he felt like it. This came to a culmination before summer exam season at the 3rd of June.

The entire stone cliff was complete, taking 6 months to complete the goliath of pure stone and using a whopping 120k thousand stone in the project. Stone 100k is placed in the storage room with a sign infront of it. Getting close to emptying the stone exchange as one of the main users of the utility project. There was however one obvious problem, the top was still missing.

With the server already running over 2 years time and with a new update around the corner, decissions needed to be made. How to finish the base, but mostly what is needed to call the base finished. That question was answered almost 3 months after finishing the stone cliffs. A classic garden that inaccessible by foot, only by rail via the CRN. The works started quickly creating a moss roof that was almost flat on the top and about 5 layers thick on the sides to make it look decent from the ground upwards. This was all done in a singular day (5 hours total) with the help of 20.png Xambaka, 20.png Elednor89, 20.png kayak13 and 20.png Creeper_Duck.

Building the garden

Now it was time to build the actual garden, after determining the rough centre of the cliff planning started. A central plaza for potentially a fountain and 8 pathways going out in both cardinal directions and 45° diagonals from the centre bit. The roads were made out of bricks and granite, quite accessible and cheap so late into the servers life (it was already out that there were plans in the making to close the server).

Flowerbeds were not made out of flowers, but out of coral fans making the area not look green but the actual colour of them. Bushes were made from azelea sapling with moss on top to make them appear taller and have a manicured feel to them. Each quadrant, split by a diagonal had its own colour associated to them. In the second perk away from the centre the tall flowers of that kind were used further from the road. The third layer perks were filled with dense tree coverage making the park seem bigger than it is from afar. On the Pavillion side (also the station) the remaining pink corals were used since those weren't used in the centre perks.

Cliff Garden Station

Since that Chemi got intrested in joining the Dogcraft server from watching RenDog's base tours he was also intrested in having a station at his base from the get go. This was one of the main ways he got distracted during the cliffbuilding phases. Eventually after having built a lot of raillines on Corgi in basicly any direction but his base the finish got in sight. With the Southline at station 3 only a singular connection was needed. This was complete only a mere days after the stone building phase of the base, but a station was missing.

The idea for the station ended up being one of the main contributors to how the base actually ended up turning out. Chemi had actually visited the Austrian Capital Vienna (Wien) that summer and visited the emperors castle: Schloss Schönbrunn. This garden ended up being the main inspiration for the base and the pavillion at end of the garden was the perfect idea for a station.

With its open layout and simple design a similar style one was created on the server freehanden and features the only arrivel platform to the base. A map is located on the side and benches can be found on the other. When arriving you go inside the cliff through a brick tunnel upwards until you are at the final destination, the beautfill Cliff Garden. A set of stairs lead you down to the garden but overlooking it from the top is absolutly worth it.
