A trip usually lasts for a couple of hours. While traveling, the group often sets up makeshift camps, to survive the night, sleep, regroup an acquire some food or do a bit of mining. Signs are often left on such locations, to inform any possible future traveler. At the end of the trip it has become common place to make a modest cabin or house. The travelers leave their acquired belongings there and mark the built with some signs (trip number, date, participants, etc). After the trip the event is usually documented with a forum or discord post, including pictures.

A Cyberdog Safari or Camping Trip is a group event where a couple of Cyberdogs go on a trip exploring either the Dogcraft server or another minecraft server. If it's on the dogcraft.net server, it's called a Camping Trip. If it's on another minecraft server, it's called a Safari.

The trips adhere to the following rules:

  • Bring nothing. No gear, no inventory. Leave all behind.
  • Keep moving. only take along the stuff you can carry.
  • No teleporting during the trip, except…
  • When you die, don’t pick up the items you lost, so don’t use /back. Instead, /tpa to another camping trip member and start with an empty inventory again.
  • At the end of the trip, leave all your acquired stuff at the end location.

There's a Discord server for these trips called Cyberdog Safaris. It's used to discuss servers for possible future safaris, announce trips, communicate during trips, and share documentation (especially for Safaris, since talking about other servers on dogcraft.net discords is generally frowned upon).

Even though most all trips so far have been initiated by _edo, anyone really can do such trips. They can be planned in advance or just done ad-hoc.

So far, the following trips took place:

  • #1 January 27th, 2018, a Camping Trip on dogcraft.net survival 2 world (documentation)

  • #3 February 25th, 2018, a Safari to constantiam.net (documentation)
  • #4 February 28th, 2018, a Safari to 2b2t.org (documentation)
  • #5 January 17th, 1029, a Camping Trip on dogcraft.net survival 3 world
