It all depends on how many people are online, and who they are. Several people already have creeper farms. So when they come on, they make up most of the worlds creeper cap. Which makes exploring at night easier. But finding creepers for gunpowder, a little harder. Otherwise, yes. Ordinarily has good rates. Assuming you've lit up 128 block perimeter around the farm. So the only thing that can spawn Near you is creepers.

In a way, yes.  The creepers' hitbox is small enough to fit under the trapdoor.  but so are spiders  so you need to account for that, unless you want a dual creeper string farm.

If every other block you put down slabs (to prevent a 2x2 spawning area), then spiders won't be an issue. Unless, like you said, it's a dual passive farm.

true how do you get them into a kill zone though? all my mobs just swim out
