Continuing on resource pack suggestions for anyone else who may be interested, I use a pack called Babalon which is mostly a softer take on vanilla with clear glass. I recently discovered a cool feature of the pack is diamond armor, which is translucent–character skins are still semi visible! I also pick and mix with some others packs, subbing in a nicer (read: rounder) moon and sun, and using all the entity textures from Pixel Reality, which I maintain has some of the best mob designs ever (seriously, they're all great, villagers and husks in particular).
Oh, and one last feature I recommend. Though Radiant Pixels is rather unusual in some respects (blue Nether, blue End) and has some deviations from standard designs that make for odd combinations when viewed in vanilla, I still very much enjoy the grass and foliage color maps that are included in the pack. They make the world incredibly vibrant and add more variety to the landscape. The stand out feature is without doubt the birch forests, which are this autumnal yellow.
A downside is that I'm not sure if Babalon has been updated to 1.12, so the button to toggle the crafting menu is invisible. Otherwise, it's great. It's still 16 bit so any textures left in default mesh pretty flawlessly with the resource pack.
