New PC
« on: July 19, 2018, 02:24:11 am »
Hello, fellow Cyberdogs! I have been saving up for a new PC for a little while now, and originally i was going to build my own but the price for building your own had gone up dramatically. I was wondering if it had gone back down and also if Mumbo's Chillblast Fusion Mumbo 1050 Gaming PC would be worth it as that is right in my budget for my first gaming PC. Also how would i choose a monitor, does it depend on the graphics card etc, or does it not really matter which one i get?

Hi Dark! As for the prices on items, there is currently a shortage on RAM, and those prices have been trending up, however graphics cards have been dropping (finally!)!

As for the Mumbo PC, I'm not familiar with AMD processors, so I cant say for certain, but the price does seem reasonable.

A monitor will depend on your graphics card.  You can see the specs on the manufactures sites.  When looking for a monitor, FPS (frames per second) is expressed as Hz (Hertz(sp?)). So a 60hz Monitor can only show 60 FPS.

edit As part of making your purchase I still recommend price checking with other custom builders, as well as  a site called New Egg (i don't know if I'm allowed to post links) which is like the Amazon of computer parts

From what I have read the mumbo PC is fine for minecraft. There are a few options to check out too. New Egg is a good one. You can also check Tigerdirect. For myself I found a person who sells good referbished Pc's through Craigslist. But be careful if you do that. Dont just get any PC. Try to look for someone who refurbishes or builds pcs and runs a business. A local small business will try to reach more people through Craigslist and they have a reputation to protect. As for a monitor I use a 40" flat screen TV. I'm not trying to get super high resolution and 60 fps is fine for game play. Good luck in your search.

Mumbo's "Chillblast Fusion Mumbo Gaming PC" seems like a good deal.  I just recently built myself a pc with bits and pieces.  The only real part that is recycled from one of my older computers is the tower and the monitor (of which is is nothing great but at least I can see at 1440x900 great, otherwise the guts is new.  I spent under $700 between the components.  I bought mostly from eBay and a few parts from NewEgg.  And I run Minecraft with optifine at full screen and it runs flawlessly...
So, good luck if you decide on getting that Mumbo pc....
Ciao...
