I think you should change the last option in the poll to "killed by a Phantom" since the dev team has already confirmed that sharks will NOT be introduced.

But I'm looking forward to the update SO much, I'm actually planning on playing in a single player survival world again so I can properly experience the ocean update.
Plus, new block types (slabs, stairs, etc.) will be fun to use in builds.

I am wondering how catching a fish in a bucket is going to work. The new reef textures do look awesome.

I feel its about time the water and oceans in minecraft got a kick in the pants. A small part of me will miss the nostalgia of bare oceans and quirky water physics, its minecraft as we always knew it from the beginning. In the end, this change will inject an appreciable amount of life (literally) and more content to this awesome game.

I was never really interested in the ocean biomes. However, seeing all the things they are adding, I really want to start experimenting with the underwater building now!

I'm excited to start working with the new blocks. I'm already planning out new builds in my head.

I kind of got stuck in 1.7.10 for a long time, with the mods and all, so even 1.12 is new to me.  Like Llamas... the first time I saw one of those I thought I had left a mod on accidentally, lol.  But the new updates excite me more than a lot of the older ones; I've kind of had a love/hate relationship with water and stairs and slabs, and I am quite excited that they have changed the water to work on them, instead of a silly air pocket.  I feel the same about the fences, but I also am not looking forward to re-learning water and redstone things that I just learned.
