My Place

I’m not sure if this forum will take bb-code so we will find out here.

This is my main house as it stands today. Its about a third of a ways done and it being build half hazardously, as I gain more claim blocks. I’m patient and a survivalist at it purest. And a naturalist, for I like things to be put down without excavating and go with the terrain, i.e. I don’t have much dirt in my inventory.

I’m located about 14000 blocks from spawn, and as far as I know there is no one within 5000 blocks from my place on the server. This is a map of my region:

This is a plain’s biome where I’ve been gathering other foliage from around me and planting along while expanding the number of various trees around the house. The mine that I started, ended up in a lava pool of some size at level 9, and therefore christian it as the Lava Mine. I spent a good day removing the lava in key areas and even trapped myself and dying a painful death in that task.  But so far I have mustered out some diamonds for improvement in weapons and tools.

Its been a long time since I played minecraft (mc) I believe it was at version 1.8 when I was on the Survival 1 server, therefore I do have some catching up to do.  I do like playing on the server, because of the chat and I must apologize for not participating that much in chat because I’m just busy busy busy with building and exploring.  I do have to stop when I see some interesting comment that causes me to expand the chat window to see what is going on.

The location that I’m at is interesting, as I said it is a Plains Biome (no horses, just sheep). But below the house is a massive cave system containing an abandon mine, with at least one cave spider spawner, a skeleton spawner, a zombie spawner, and a regular spider spawner.  The only one that I’m interested in is the skelie spawner, but raises a question:

Is one allowed to make a XP farm from a spawner?  I really like to know.

In fact, I like doing some redstone projects and wonder about that as I go alone building - I like doing doors (1x2, 2x2, and 3x3), automated rails, and so on.  I most likely will ask the question in chat when I get to the point.

I do appreciate the Nether rack that someone gave me, I normally don’t ask for something, but I was so eager to test the fireplace placement - I wanted to make sure it didn’t burn the house down. Which comes to another question:

Building a portal to the Nether land.  I remember on Survival 1, having issues getting the portal in place - on return I ended up at someone’s else portal. So I may have a Mod assist me in that area.

After I get settled down at bit, I will get a second home closer to spawn so I can participate a bit more with the community for I’m also interest in seeing other builds -

Quasi - that place of yours by spawn is awesome.  Hopefully I will get a tour someday.

I’ll end here for now, for I could go on forever.  Thanks for reading. z

If your portal goes to another place, then it is probably linked up. The way to fix this is to find the coords of your portal in the main world (not including the y) and dividing by 8. That will tell you where in the nether it should be built.

Then you break your portal and light it in the over world, go into the nether, and place the new portal at the right coords (as high or as low as you like. the Y won't affect it, so this is why you'll find portals in the ceiling of the nether). And once it's lit on the nether side, walk through and you should be good to enter your portal without issues going forward.

It's really cool that you have access to all the main spawners within that mineshaft. #Lucky.

I have turned the zombie spawner at my base into an xp farm, and will follow to see if the staff says that this is not allowed, but I think you shouldn't have an issue. (Don't quote me on it).

I hope to be able to check out your build in the future!

Have a wonderful day,

Welcome to the server zembee. Your house is looking great. As far as the spawner she go, go ahead. Make the best ones you can. There's nothing against it.
Good luck with horses. They seem very rare. I can go weeks without seeing them. I wonder how if it's due to head hunters 🤔😝
Anyway, enjoy your time. I'll look out for you when I'm online.

Big Thanks guys, one thing I don't want to do is break the rules, this server is a minecrafter's dream, and I don't wan to spoil it.

Its good to hear about the use of the spawners, I especially like the skellies the best, but its in a place that I forgot where it's at, so I made one up using the zombie spawner which is actually closer to the house, but died in building it, I forgot to put a water in one slot in the elevator and hit a block that put me down into the room of mobs.  It punishment on me since I didn't test that aspect, was just too proud that I go the redstone working like it should.  Rats!

xClickx, so if I have problems get my x,z coords in the overland portal, divide by 8 and that should be my x,z coords in nether land. Remove the nether land portal and build a new one at the aforementioned coords and then I should be good.  Umm, my luck it be over a sea of lava.  Hopefully with me way out in nowhere I will not have an issue.

Thanks again guys.  This is the reason this server rocks.

So for example if your over world coords are 800 / 800, then in the nether it should be built at 100 / 100 (the y doesn't matter). Once you light it up on the nether side (and having lit the one on the overworld first, but not walking in), then you should be good to go.

The tricky part will be getting into the nether not from your own portal til they are linked up.

Also, don't forget if you have negative coords like 800,-800 the negative is still there. (100/-100).

If you are worried about lava sea, then go into the ceiling. Once again the height will not affect them linking.

Happy hunting ^^

Here’s a update of my place way down south.

I’m a follower of Rendog and when building, a lot of his influence goes into my builds, though on a bit of a smaller scale. I suppose most is based on functional areas, with the animal pens in one area, a wood shed, and a foundry are bit of an example as I go. And in truth, I need the storage and organization so I can find things as the place gets larger in size.  The picture shows the main house, that has my enchanting table (library), a living room (gathering place), armor room, a unused bedroom, and now a portal.

xclickx, I had no issues with the portal.  I was relieved in that I didn’t need to do the ‘heavy’ math of getting it working, I suppose having a good distance from everyone is a plus, but I do feel a bit isolated. On the nether side, the portal ended up inside a cave with various paths out.  My un-enchanted iron gear I believe isn’t quite up to stuff to challenge the outside just yet, but I do wander about collecting quartz and nether rack for the bricks to use back home.  At this point I wonder how close I am to another portal.

I still trying to collect slime for upcoming projects and finding a good method is one of my tasks as I move along (living next to a swamp and only have a half a stack). I built a golem on a stand to see how it works as I fish close by and I must say I’m a bit disappointed.

For sure, this location is sweet. Just to my west is a ravine.

At the beginning, I’ve be running around it to get to the area where I’ve been growing oak, until one day I noticed something at the bottom. It looked like a chest and began to wonder, what is a chest doing down there?  Is this something new to me since I’ve haven’t played since 1.7.  I had to investigate.

A mine cart. And right next to it was an abandon mine shaft. So far I’ve found four cave spider spawners, a skeleton spawner, loads of rails and rail components, horse armor (gold/iron) and two saddles, four golden apples, name tags galore (about a dozen), diamonds…

And I’m still finding new areas of this mine. I’m constantly creating new stacks of torches as I run through, running pass gold, iron, and coal ore blocks, this is about the largest abandon mine I’ve encountered.

So many other things to do, but I need space, for to the north of me I do want to construct a village to support the mining operations.  And I need to find just two horses.  I miss my horse.

Till next time…

The base is looking good Zembee! Keep it up.

Your lucky to have a mine shaft below you. I'd love to find one near my base. Such a good source of resources.

Hey Zembee,

I remember your name from survival1, nice to see you around again.
It's cosy and nostalgic to see the JSL (John Smith Legacy) texture pack :)

If it hasn't been mentioned above already: fire doesn't spread on this server. So no worries about your fireplace putting your whole house on fire.

Yes, I remember you and I believe Scoob were doing some project or two in the desert area near spawn 1.  If I remember back then, John Smith was a requirement, but it appears it isn't so anymore.  I still use it, love it and know what to expect.  I'm carrying old habits with me and learning all the new stuff since, what v1.7?   I've been on the rendog servers since v1.4 since it is a well greased community.

Hey Zembee,

Really nice to read about your adventures re-discovering dogcraft.
After the update to 1.11 or 1.12 I think the JSL texturepack was no longer automaticly loaded by the server and gone a bit out of grace I'm afraid. Nice to see it again though.

See you around perhaps!
