general server help
« on: January 22, 2018, 11:19:00 pm »
Hello everyone!
is there a general section or page i can go to that would show all the basic commands that we can use while on the server? I logged on for the first time earlier and someone came to my rescue and gave me some chicken lol. However they had to tell me to type the command to accept it. Like i said, this is my first time ever on a server so i'm not really familiar with any of it.

Also, I logged on to survival server 2. Is the main town around the castle where the shops are? I came across plenty of buildings with food and tools but i could not interact with any of it.

Please forgive my Noobness lol, i guess i just have to venture past the main spawn area and find an unclaimed location to start my minecraft life, correct? i know that i could teleport to a random location to start also, so I'm guessing i could just teleport back to spawn, correct?

thanks for the help guys! I'm super excited to get going, but when first logging in, it was a bit overwhelming for me as a person who only ever played survival on pocket edition.

The FAQ page on the website has a lot of good info. http://dogcraft.net/faq.php
That's what I looked through when I first joined and it helped.

You can always return to spawn using the /spawn command. /hub takes you to the main hub where you can choose your server (sur1, sur2, skyblock, etc.)

When starting out, /rtp takes you to a random spot where you can begin, or keep using it until you find a more suitable place. Once you get a home picked out, plop down a chest to make your first claim (protect your area) and don't forget to do a /sethome

Once your home is set, you can do /home to return there.

You mentioned shopping. Once you've earned dogcraft dollars (dcd) from quests, games, time played, etc, use /warp sur2mall to visit the shopping mall.

Hope this quick crash course helps. See you on the server.

Hey,

First thing to do when joining the server would be to link up your MC account with your dogcraft.net account (http://dogcraft.net/linkdc.php). That should enable you to interact with stuff on the server. Do keep in mind that the spawn area allows for less interaction since it's an admin claim where you can't break or place blocks.

Outside of the spawn area (there should be a message when exiting/entering spawn) you should be able to place and break blocks after linking you account.

Some basic commands:
/tpa <player> : request to teleport to a player
/tpahere <player> : request a player to teleport to you
/tpaccept : accept a tp request
/rtp : teleport to a random location

/m <player> : private message a player
/r : reply to most resent private message

/sethome <name>  : sets a home at your current location (default amount of possible homes is 1 I think, in the webshop you can buy upgrades for this)
/home <name> : brings you to a previously set home
/delhome <name> : deletes a previously set home

There's also the option to claim area's. For this you need a golden shovel and claimblocks. Claimblocks accumulate during the time you are on the server or can be bought in the webshop. In the FAQ there should also be a link to a good instruction video on claiming land.

This should get you started I think. There's also a lot of warps, of which I don't know the specific names. I know there should be one to get to spawn, one to get to the endportal and one to get to the mall at least, but ask ingame if you need any of those.

Hope this helps you getting familiar with the basics of server interaction.
Have fun online!

Thanks for the info! I did read the FAQ's and watched Rendog's vid. for some reason its all overwhelming to me. I guess reading it all along with all the other info makes it so scattered in my brain that is hard to recall lol. Thanks again for the help! I only have interacted with you all for probably less than an hour total and i already love the community! Everyone has been so nice and helpful. I hope that i will be able to be help to others someday.
Craft on!!
