Building style?

I'm struggling to find a new style to build in, getting sick of medieval style as its all i seem to do. Any Ideas that would be fun?

Well, you might have to wait until the server updates to 1.12 (assuming that's planned), but concrete is awesome for modern builds.

Well it really determines in your own tastes. Since I cant tell what you like, I'll just give you a list. (These are mainly gonna be pulled from things on the internet.
  • Cape Cod
  • Art Deco
  • Craftsman
  • Contemporary
  • Colonial (Dutch, Georgian, Federal)
  • Mid-Century Modern
  • French Provincial
  • Greek Revival
  • Italianate
  • Mediterranean
  • Modern
  • Neoclassical
  • Prairie
  • Pueblo Revival
  • Ranch
  • Townhouse
  • Tudor
  • Spanish
  • Victorian
  • Cottage
  • Farmhouse
  • Oriental

This just a few of the many styles out there, plus the fact that it might be possible to even mix styles together (maybe). Again it really just relies on what your tastes in architecture are like. Plus the ideas of a "medieval" is a very vague style which varies from place to place. Are you talking like a rustic type when thinking medieval or what?

That's what I got

Honestly, one of the things I do is just play around with block combinations and designs.  My old server, I rebuilt my base like four times, because I wasn't happy with any of them.  Eventually ended up settling on a more arcane build using lots of quartz blocks and netherbrick stuff.  Ended up looking really cool, and stuff!

If you don't want to step too far out of your comfort-zone you can always try to bend the medieval style to an elven style.

There you go, instead of stone bricks and variants everywhere, go with logs and planks and vines and leaves and such everywhere.  It's actually a really good style, I think, and comes together REALLY well with traditional medieval.  Just... not in the same place.

so recently i found myself thinking the same thing. with the massive range of stone available, it easy to stay in the stone age.

but if you cut those out of your primary index, cutting out the wood and stones and bring a stranger colour
and texture to your builds.  you might find you start building differently. creating orc like hut buildings with nether, or mud hutted builds temples out of glass. sky builds.

you can still use the old wood and stone but as minor hints, rather then primary material.

build bubble cities with glass.
desert forests with prismarine,
mushroom forests with glowstone/sea lanterns
alien shards gouging the land.

create a story based on creature that visited these lands rather then grew up and evolved here.

i hope this helped and its not just my mad ramblings. x
