This guide will walk you through '''how to link your Minecraft account to a [[Dogcraft.net]] account''', which you must do when you first join the [[Dogcraft Server]] in order to play. You can link a Java Edition or Bedrock Edition account, but not both; if you want to play on both Bedrock and Java you should [[Guide:Bedrock Account Linking|link your Java & Bedrock edition accounts first]].
This guide will walk you through what you need to do to be able to play on the [[Dogcraft Server]], including linking your Minecraft account to a Dogcraft.net account and completing the GamerSafer age verification check.

===Step 1: Log in and register===
First, join the Dogcraft Server on Java or Bedrock using the IP address: <code>server.dogcraft.net</code>


When you've logged in, you should see a message in chat appear informing you that your account isn't linked.

Open chat and click on the blue underlined <code>https://dogcraft.net</code> link.
1. Launch Minecraft {{server version}} and add the Dogcraft server (IP address: <code>server.dogcraft.net</code>) on the Multiplayer menu.


A message will appear asking you if you want to open the link. Click "Yes" to open it in your browser. This will send you to the Dogcraft.net registration page and automatically fill in the link code for you. You will then be asked to enter your date of birth to verify your age.

===Step 2: Complete account setup===
After completing Step 1, you just need to finish setup by providing an email and password. Alternatively, you are able to complete setup by signing in with a Discord account.

To finish making your account, you must enter:

*A secure password (must have one lowercase letter, one uppercase, one number and one symbol)


Then, click "Register" to proceed

If you choose to proceed using a Discord account, the website will redirect you to an authorisation page. You'll need to allow Dogcraft to access your Discord account.


You can add a password to make signing in quicker later on.

===Step 3: Verify your email address===
Now that you've made your account, you just need to verify the e-mail you provided. If you signed in with Discord, this is the e-mail associated with your Discord account.


Wait a minute or two, then check your inbox for the email. If it's not there, make sure you check your spam folder.

Once it's arrived, click the "Verify" button to verify your email.

Once you've verified your email, you should just need to wait a few minutes for your rank to update. Once it's updated, disconnect and reconnect and you should be able to place and break blocks in the wild. Enjoy your time on the Dogcraft server!

====If you haven't received a verification email====


*Check your spam, junk and trash folders
6. {{anchor link|6}}You will now be prompted to create a Dogcraft account. You can choose to register with an email address and password, or by connecting a Discord/Patreon account. Choose one of these options.
*If you created your account using the Dogcraft.net account creator, please check to ensure you have entered the correct e-mail address. If you entered the wrong address or wish to change it, you can change your email by clicking the account settings button ({{fa|user-gear}}) in the top right to take you to your settings page. You can now simply type a new email in the "E-mail" box, then click the save button next to it. A new e-mail will be sent to the new address to verify it. Note that if you ever change your email address in settings, you will need to re-verify it.
*"Yahoo! Mail" accounts have been reported in the past to take a long time to receive the verification email. If you are using a "Yahoo! Mail" account and do not wish to wait for your verification email to arrive, you can switch to using a different account for verification. (detailed in the point above)
*If you created your account using Discord, please check if your Discord account has a verified email associated with it. To add an email, navigate to the "Settings" --> "My Account" page. If you see an amber-yellow box asking you to verify your account, you have not verified it yet. You can check [https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/213219267-Resending-Verification-Email this link] for a walkthrough on how to do this.

*If you are playing on Java Edition and are unable to click on the blue link in the chat window, please check that your Web Links are on in your Minecraft Options menu. You can change this by going to ''Options... --> Chat Settings... --> Web Links: ON''. If you're on Bedrock (iOS, Android, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc) edition, you will not be able to click chat links and you should visit https://dogcraft.net/u/register and manually type in the green link code shown in chat to register an account.
*Make sure you have entered your Date of Birth correctly and in the right format. You must be at least age 13 to play on Dogcraft as per the [[Rules]].
*If you have verified your account email and you are still seeing the Account Verification popup, please try logging out of your Dogcraft account and then back in again.

On your smart device, you now need to download the GamerSafer app from the [https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/gamersafer-your-gaming-id/id1534189320 App Store (iOS Devices)] or [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamersafer_app_9342 Google Play (Android Devices)].

12. {{anchor link|12}}Open the GamerSafer app. Click the blue "Create" link, located next to the text that says "Don't have an account?." You will be prompted to enter your country and Date of Birth. Enter these and click "Next."

13. {{anchor link|13}}You will be asked to enter your name, an email address, a username, and a password for your account. Your personal details are only used by GamerSafer for age verification and Dogcraft will not see this information.

Starting on Dogcraft
A guide to your first few days on the Dogcraft server & community.
Feel free to ask any [Helper]s or staff for assistance!


This guide will walk you through what you need to do to be able to play on the Dogcraft Server, including linking your Minecraft account to a Dogcraft.net account and completing the GamerSafer age verification check.

Returning players: If you already have a Dogcraft.net account and have verified your email address, you can skip straight to the "Verifying your Age" section.


Requirements


  • Minecraft 1.20.1 installed
  • An iOS (15+) or Android device
  • An email address

Section 1 – Making and Linking a Dogcraft account


1. Launch Minecraft 1.20.1 and add the Dogcraft server (IP address: server.dogcraft.net) on the Multiplayer menu.

2. Select Dogcraft in your Server List and click join. You will be kicked from the server with a link code; make a note of this code.

3. In the web browser on your PC, navigate to https://dogcraft.net/ and click "Register" in the top menu.

4. Enter your Date of Birth, then click "Next."

5. Enter the linking code you received earlier, then click "Next."

6. You will now be prompted to create a Dogcraft account. You can choose to register with an email address and password, or by connecting a Discord/Patreon account. Choose one of these options.

7. If you chose to register with an email — Enter an email address and password. Your password must be 8 characters long, contain one uppercase character, one lowercase character, and one symbol. Then, click "Register."

After you have completed these steps, a verification email will be sent to your inbox and you will be redirected to the age verification page.

Section 2 – Verifying your email address


8. Check your inbox for a verification email, and click the "Verify Email Address" button. This email can take a couple of minutes to arrive; be sure to check your Spam folder if you can't see it.

9. The email you entered as part of account setup, or the email associated with your Patreon/Discord account will be the one set.

If you need to change this email or you entered it incorrectly, you can navigate to your account settings page (https://dogcraft.net/settings) and change it. Be sure to click the "Save" icon once you have re-entered it, and follow the previous step to verify it.

Section 3 – Verifying your age


10. Once you've created your account, you will be prompted to verify your age in order to play on the public Dogcraft Minecraft Server. You can choose to verify your age at any time by clicking the "Verify Age" button in your account settings page (https://dogcraft.net/settings).

11. You will now be presented with a page containing a QR Code and set of instructions on how to verify your age.

On your smart device, you now need to download the GamerSafer app from the App Store (iOS Devices) or Google Play (Android Devices).

12. Open the GamerSafer app. Click the blue "Create" link, located next to the text that says "Don't have an account?." You will be prompted to enter your country and Date of Birth. Enter these and click "Next."

13. You will be asked to enter your name, an email address, a username, and a password for your account. Your personal details are only used by GamerSafer for age verification and Dogcraft will not see this information.

14. GamerSafer will send a six digit code to the email address you entered. Check your inbox and enter the code they sent you to verify your email.

15. It's now time to perform the age verification scan. GamerSafer will ask for permission to use your device's camera, which you should accept.

You will then be prompted to take two selfie pictures using your device's front-facing camera, and it will sometimes ask you to move your camera from side-to-side. This works similarly to how setting up Face ID works on iOS devices.

16. After completing the scan, wait for GamerSafer to finish processing, then click through the "Welcome to GamerSafer!" page. You will then arrive at the Home Screen, where you should click "Scan QR-Code to join a Guild." Then, scan the QR code on Dogcraft.net.

19. Wait another 20-30 seconds, and the page on Dogcraft should update again, redirecting you to your account settings page. If all went well, a success message should be displayed stating that verification was successful.
