My goal on Sur5 was to build my scale [[LEGO House]], but to do so I needed very large amounts of wool. While that wool was generating, I expanded my base quite a lot. At some point, though, I needed to find another large project that was in the vicinity of my wool farm. Additionally, I had collected a load of deepslate that was just taking up room in my bulk storage. With those combined things, I decided to build a large fortified structure, and thus Diamond Cathedral was born.

==History==
I first built the outer walls and turrets - at this point I hadn't decided what the build would actually be. After much hunting for different depictions of fortified structures online, I found some really impressive design for fantasy cathedrals. Additionally, as the build was on the cliff overlooking [[The Cabin|my base]], I really liked how the height would stand above everything else.

After adding in the full structure of the cathedral, I though it would be interesting to really take advantage of the new spawning rules in 1.18 (at the time), and light the entire building with the least amount of candles I could manage. It lends it a very moody feeling that I find quite appropriate.

Lastly, I decided to add some outbuildings - a barracks for guards, a couple storage buildings, a couple residences and an inn. Unfortunately, I was pulled away from the server for quite a while before I could finish these structures. With the impending end of the server, I decided to jump back on and finish up what I could. I finished the outer structure, but there wasn't time to add interiors to these buildings.

Each brick of the house is 625:1 scale - each block represents 1.6mm of an actual LEGO brick. Each brick is also fully realized - including the studs on the top and the tubes inside. The bricks represent the original 7 LEGO brick colors available - red, yellow, blue, green, white, gray & black. The house sits on a representation of a standard, green, 32x32 LEGO baseplate.

==About==
My goal this server was to build a scale [[LEGO House]]. Initially, I wanted to build it out of concrete, but given the scale, quickly realized a renewable solution was necessary and I turned to wool. My main base, then, was entirely about creating a sheep farm to generate the necessary wool. With that in mind, I set out to find a location I liked. Not too far out from spawn, I discovered an impressive natural cliff over a river in a giant tree taiga biome. Given the setting, I felt a cabin was the best choice, and set about putting in something that looked quite nice. I decided to lean into the naturally available resource, and build extensively with spruce. I then decided to use weathered copper as a primary roofing material. The first floor contains storage and crafting and the second floor is bedroom and enchanting. Beneath the cabin is bulk item storage, wither killing room, nether portal, and a dark secret...

After getting the cabin built, I worked to put in my sheep farm, as well as an automatic collection system for it. I put in 6 floors of 16 sheep each, as I originally intended to use all Minecraft colors in the LEGO house build.

As I needed more materials, I added buildings and farms. First was an iron farm, which I built into a water-tower-esque design across the river.

Next was a boathouse for launching exploration expeditions, as well as a small farm and storage hut for food and and a cow farm.

After a while, I got a bit sick of eating baked potatoes and decided to put in a pumpkin pie farm. I built them in a set of smaller cabins near the iron farm tower.

At this point, I was getting bored waiting for enough wool to generate for the LEGO house, and started looking for new projects. First, I installed a village in the area behind my cabin. I decided to go for a bit of a Norse theme, using historical records of Norse villages for building inspiration. Additionally, I made a stave church inspired build the center of the village, housing all of my librarians.

Eventually, I acquired an elytra, and needed gunpowder for rockets. So I installed what I call the Crying Creeper, a gunpowder crying giant creeper statue that holds a small creeper farm. Additionally, I added three small sugarcane farms, for paper generation.

After much hunting for different depictions of fortified structures online, I found some really impressive design for fantasy cathedrals. Additionally, as the build was on the cliff overlooking my base, I really liked how the height would stand above everything else.

After adding in the full structure of the cathedral, I though it would be interesting to really take advantage of the new spawning rules in 1.18 (at the time), and light the entire building with the least amount of candles I could manage. It lends it a very moody feeling that I find quite appropriate.

Lastly, I decided to add some outbuildings - a barracks for guards, a couple storage buildings, a couple residences and an inn. Unfortunately, I was pulled away from the server for quite a while before I could finish these structures. With the impending end of the server, I decided to jump back on and finish up what I could. I finished the outer structure, but there wasn't time to add interiors to these buildings.

==About==
My goal on Sur5 was to build my scale LEGO House, but to do so I needed very large amounts of wool. While that wool was generating, I expanded my base quite a lot. At some point, though, I needed to find another large project that was in the vicinity of my wool farm. Additionally, I had collected a load of deepslate that was just taking up room in my bulk storage. With those combined things, I decided to build a large fortified structure, and thus Diamond Cathedral was born.
