William, thanks for your help with a new map, although looking at it, I think it could be better with spawn and mall labelled, and possibly make it a bit more detailed. I'm pretty sure that we (SRN/NTN team) can finish the tracks and all that stuff

Yeah no problemo  ;D I made it just for fun while I work on some other things, but seeing as the new world is coming out imminently my focus has switched, and I am sure the SRN/NTN will probobally be focusing on that too.

Yes, as soon as the new world opens to the public, most all SRN / NTN efforts will be focussed on that world. However, it's still very valuable to have good documentation of our current world.

About your map, William, thanks for posting it. The size is smaller than the current SRN/NTN map, though. The current SRN/NTN map as shown in the op of this threat is 7680 x 4320 pixels. I've actually also uploaded an unannotated version of that map here: http://i.imgur.com/NUyFILE.png (also 7680 x 4320 pixels). That might be useful for you too.

Now, it's true that the current SRN/NTN map is a bit outdated, it might be reasonable to update it (I believe darparniox is managing the map at this point). But even though the background of it is getting outdated, I do like the ability to zoom in and see the details. I think, when it gets updated it might be good to mention on it that the background is of mid 2016.

I'm all for different map versions though. Different maps for different purposes.
  • One big map with all the details and info.
  • One clear and easy to read map for SRN tracks only.
  • One clear and easy to read map for NTN tracks only.
  • etc...

Like a dynmap but without players? Sure, I guess that might work

This year on dogcraft has seen the coming of the Survival 2 world, and with that from us has come a new SRN. This end of year post is a salute to original SRN and NTN and the people who helped build it. The SRN was founded by _edo and Mr_Dawgie in late April 2016 after the completion of the Grannydog monument in Spawn. The NTN followed a few months later and both expanded until the announcement of the Survival 2 world in June 2017.

Along the way, 68 contributors created:
- Approximately 14,500 blocks of rail track (plus an estimation of about 6000 in independent secondary lines, the longest being Brian's Jarrow line (2,576 blocks))
- 12 overworld stations interspersed along the rail lines
- Approximately 7,500 blocks of ice track connecting 24 nether stations
Using roughly:
- 5,400 iron ingots
- 20,700 spruce planks for stairs and another 11,250 for slabs
- 242 stacks of gravel
- 22,500 blocks of packed ice
- 900 end rods

Here’s the final map of both transport networks (open in a new tab to zoom)

All in all, a big thank you to:

Well, that's a lot of resources. Would probably take me years to get it on my own. Good job fellow SRN members!

Nice post, darp!
Those are some stats... and so many people helped. Thank you all!
And now we're doing it all over again in survival2 :P

Here are some additional pictures of the Survival 1 SRN/NTN:

Oldest version of the SRN map. May 23rd, 2016. There was no NTN yet, in the nether.

SRN Spawn Station.
The giant golden Grannydog's Monument was build first. It's a double-size, community build replica of the original build by Rendog in his let's play series. Spawn Station was later build underneath it. A preexisting wall was also repurposed, modified and extended to function as the boundary of the station.

Central hall of Spawn Station, right underneath the golden Grannydog's Monument. Rail tracks depart in all four wind directions.

East Station.

West Station.

North Station.

Elytra race event at Mesa Station.

Pyramid Station.

Nether hub.

You're already in the discord, right? So all you have to do to become a builder (or 'helper' as it is known on Discord), is help out and contribute on the primary SRN lines. To find out what you can do, contact the line's line manager for tasks to do. That way, you'll eventually earn your well-deserved role!  ;)
