a few website suggestions?
« on: April 10, 2017, 02:40:39 am »
Hello everyone,

ive been on the server for a little bit less than a month now and i thought i might throw out a few observations that i think could improve the website a little.

however, before i post this i just want to say im not a programmer and i cant build websites.  if what im saying isnt possible then i completely understand that, im just putting my two cents in

ive been on a couple of other servers and their websites had links the places where we could vote for the server. would it be possible to add that to the site as i think we get perks for voting for the server and currently im not sure where to go to vote for it.

and secondly,

ive noticed that the server is down frequently and it might be nice to have someway to go to the website and see server status. whether that is a mod posting a forum post to say its down, or some green and red dot somewhere that signals what the server status is.

and while it may not always be possible, some sort of an eta on when the server will be back up would be nice. however like i said that may not always be possible.

now if all this exists somewhere then i havent seen it yet.

and i just want it to be known again, these are just suggestion to be taken with a grain of salt.

thank you for your time

As our server is somewhat not public (only fans of Ren) we do not wish to be on any voting websites. We only want people to come from Rendogs youtube series' etc.

As for the server status, you can find that on the left side of the website where it says "Vanilla" under the Minecraft heading. Or here http://dogcraft.net/serverVanilla.php

I will say, for myself, I dislike voting. The broadcast reminders are annoying and I've had trouble with the voting sites previously. As it is, I no longer play on the servers that require voting. I found, for me, it was nothing more than a waste of time.

Also, as Matti stated, the server is really only semi-public. It is meant for Ren's fans. This is why you'll only really find out about it from Ren, or if you have a friend already playing on the server.  I, for one, appreciate that this keeps a good portion of the internet trolls away from the server. It is the community of Ren's fans that has made me really enjoy playing on the server. I wouldn't want to see it changed.

We should have 2 voting links per day and a quest like "Vote 50 times" or something like that. Also, I think the server should restart every few months (I'd say every 9 months or every year) and have a world download like Hermitcraft.

EDIT: Nevermind

That won't happen, it never will, unless some really messed up stuff happens or silly people get into power. That exact thing has been suggested so many times and the answer has never changed, to be honest, I highly doubt that will ever happen.

OK, now that I've thought about my idea, it is a bit silly. We don't want the server to be overrun by random people and grievers. Even if there were no grievers, the server would constantly be 100/100 and the regular people (like us) wouldn't be able to join anymore. I do understand, the more people a server can hold, the more money it costs.

Umm I'm guessing you mean "Griefers"... Grievers are very different... Just for anyone who didn't realise what Blocker ment

I think it's great to share ideas and throw them out for the Mods to consider. Good effort!  8)
