Look up H.R. Geiger/Alien, and also Frank Gehry for inspiration... Also the brutal architecture movement is pretty cool for sci-fi. A lot of times the buildings are large blank spaces that are dominated by bold accents, like a stripe of light that runs up the side next to an electric blue strip. And then layered on top are a lot of small details like scaffold and lights.
I would use a lot of white and black, and then a little grey and some bold colors splashed in.
Finally (and most importantly) Sci-fi architecture ties functionality (ie do all of the parts of the build do something, and are they easy to get to) with symmetry. So you might have a central area or "hub" with four wings that come out of each side and lead to different areas of the building. There might then be a round donut shaped hallway that connects the four towers (coming from the center tower) a few floors up. This would allow for a round, city sort of complex Kind of like Atlantis in Stargate.
Does that help? Do you have any specific questions? If I am on next time you sign in, feel free to send me a whisper and I can come show you some ideas. ^.^
